Brand new at the 2026 Totterdown Arts Trail: free Saturday afternoon singing workshop, followed by free choir gigs!On Sat 14 Nov at 2pm, in the Totterdown Baptist church, you're invited to come and have a go at singing in harmony. No experience necessary. Everything will be taught by ear, from scratch.This workshop is suitable for everyone. No need to read music. Just bring your voice! Led by experienced choir leaders Kate Fletcher and Neil Johnson.

Come and get into the festive spirit with a bit of good old-fashioned singing Widcombe Social Club's beautiful Wharf Room.The songs we'll sing are folk songs and carols, and aren't the famous Victorian carols which dominate today. These songs are older, and connected to the land and to folk culture. They are not religious songs.This workshop will be led by Neil (Heartwood Chorus, Secret Wednesday Choir, Deep Lock Folk). It's for all people, beginners and experienced singers alike. There's no need to have a great voice, and no need to read music. Everything will be taught by ear, from scratch.All you need to bring is your voice! Everyone is welcome.Widcombe Social Club has step-free access, a lift and accessible loos.Doors will open at 6:45pm. Singing will start at 7pm.The bar will be open from 6:45 to 7pm if you want to grab a drink.

Come and join us to be part of the Bristol’s Awake Arise Scratch Choir!In this specially commissioned vocal workshop, with choir leader Neil Johnson (Heartwood Chorus), you’ll have the opportunity to learn stunning arrangements of songs from the Awake Arise repertoire, alongside other folk seasonal favourites. You don’t need to be able to read music or sing solo but some experience of singing in a choir or group is helpful.Tickets will go on sale very soon.
